I build my recipies through MyFitnessPal Recipe Builder and Bar code scan all the ingredients to ensure I get accurate macros!  The macros listed below are based on the product/brand choices I made.  If you use different products/brands to make this recipe you will get different macros to what I have quoted.

If you want it... work hard and you will achieve it!

I am a firm believer that if you can put your mind to something you can achieve it!!! The mind and self believe is a powerful thing!

For my EFN profile I had to write who my inspiration is... For me it's my sister.  We are similar in so many ways that if someone tells us we can't do something we do it! and when we get something in our heads we run with it until we achieve it.

Here is a pic of my sister after a 10 weeks programme....

Afew months after the shoot she fell pregnant, 9 months later little Max was born!

Two weeks before giving birth she pre prepped all her meals for post birth adamant to get back on plan and shift her baby weight and get her amazing body back.... here is her progress so far! I will be sure to update you all of her progress along the way 😁

Clear proof that when you put your mind to something and stay true to yourself anything is achievable!

Aunt Flow is on holiday too!!!!

There is nothing worse than looking in the mirror and feeling bloated, watery and the scales increasing at rapid rate!  This is what I have been experiencing the last few days.  So you can imagine my relief when Aunt Flow decided to pay me a visit yesterday (yup whilst on holiday – great!).

At least now I had something to put my bloatedness down to!! I was starting to get worried my food measurements by eye to hit my macros were completely out.

When you reach low body fat unfortunately your menstrual cycle is going to be effected.  Unlike other females I don’t get regular cycles anyway with having no tubes, so my oestrogen levels are quite low anyway.  But once I hit under 12% bracket I noticed they were becoming few and far between.  I was 9 weeks between my last period to receiving my period a week after comp (10.5% Body fat at Comp), since then this is my next period, a 6 week gap (11.2% Body fat).

When I do get my period am so lucky as the bloated, and watery look disappear after a day and happy to say my 4 abs are back popping! Hopefully the result on the scale sorts its self out over the next few days too!  I also feel so much better!

So far I am managing to eat clean, there isn’t any excuse not to eat clean when abroad, as they have amazing salad bars, fresh chicken, grilled fish etc! Where I have been short hitting my macros (tends to be with carbs and fat) I have my supplies I took with me.

Anyway time to eat!!!!!

Fage V Asda Fat Free Greek Yoghurt

I am very wary about the cost of food when on plan.  I don't pay any attention to cost when it comes to meat, but things like vegetables, fruit, yoghurt, supplements and protein I do.

One of my friends commented on me spending £1 for a 170g of Fage 0% Fat Free Greek Yoghurt, when the asda equivalent for 175g was 50p! - She had a point!!!

On further inspection the macros are different... but her point was still valid... the Asda yoghurt had way more sodium, less protein and slightly more carbs.... but I could have slightly more yoghurt from the 2nd tub I would purchase to equate to the price of the Fage to make up for the lost protein.

Next step taste!  I have to say both tasted really good in there own right, the Fage defiantly has more a thicker consistency but this will be down to the extra protein!

I think I will stick to my Fage, but for those on a budget its defiantly worth a swap out!

Last Heavy Leg Session for a week

Due to lack of facilities in Egypt for a heavy leg session at the gym I will be using I moved my leg session on Sunday to today, also a bonus that Andy is back for the weekend, and I was able to train with him at The Warehouse.

Squats, Box Squats, Hack Squats, Leg Press, SLDL, Leg Extension, Glute/Ham Raises finished off with Calves all in the 6-8 rep range.

Job Done!  Il easy manage 2 of my Endurance Leg Workouts abroad!

Happy Holidays!

Holidays whilst on plan

This week I face another tough challenge!  On holiday whilst on plan....

Due to me changing the goal posts with competing, my holiday of eating lots of fine food and taking a week out of training has been blown out the window.  Am I bothered? - no not really!  I naturally eat clean anyway on holiday (excluding my daily evening meal desert), and I also find it uncomfortable to sunbathe when the sun is at its hottest so always hit the gym then anyway!

My suitcase is fully stocked with supplies to make sure I hit my macros each day, protein, protein treats, Weetabix, rice cakes etc.  NO EXCUSES!

I think a week in the sun and training in a different environment is going to do me the world of good, and am hoping that I only have a further fortnight after my return from holiday of reverse dieting and building more mass before cutting in again! To say am a bit nervous about only having 8 weeks to cut and hopefully come in leaner is an understatement!!! however I have better starting foundation for this comp compared to the start of the year when training for Bikini.

Positive Mental Attitude and Hard Work!

Now to get in a gym session before I catch my flight #noexcuses

EFN - Elite Fitness Network

Today I did a photo shoot for Elite Fitness Network at Aberdeen Combat Centre.  The photo was fitness related but we did get to put on some 'Saturday Night' clothes mixed with Tyres, Hammers and dumbbell's to make some of the shots more interesting!  I can't wait to see my pictures!!!

Elite Fitness Network is an up and coming fitness model agency, with some Top Name sponsored Athletes on their books!

It was great to meet some more local competitors / forth coming competitors as well!  and we had such a hoot doing the shoot!  Ama actually has the best laugh ever so infectious!!!  Ama came in 1st at the NABBA Scottish Toned Category this year - her abs are AMAZING!

Also in the shoot was Donna who is PT at Results Gym in Aberdeen, Stacey Cruickshank who is a PT in the Oil & Gas but who has aspirations to compete and has started prepping with stage as her goal! Not forgetting Charlotte who is prepping for her 1st Bikini Competition in 12 weeks time in Denmark!!!

Reverse Dieting Progress

Well that's me on my 3rd week of Reverse Dieting.  The first week my weight fluctuated drastically on a day to day basis, but this past 2 weeks its stayed around the 59.7kilo mark! Am either 0.2 over or under either way!

I notice such a difference in my performance in the gym, getting stronger and stronger each day.

I am hitting legs twice a week, and doing a push/pull type training programme, the start of the week is strength within the 6-8 rep range parameter (this is where I try and smash last weeks Pb's without compromising form), and then the 2nd part of the week is Endurance around the 12-15 rep range.  Andy gave me a programme to start myself off on which included a lot of my favourite excersizes, however at the moment the gym I use is extremely busy so I have had to change to programme to suit me and the fact there is too much equipment hoggers who don't like to share!!!

The main focus in my training at the moment is shoulders and quads, and I am pleased with progress of both!, although I have a complex with my shoulders and feel there not that big, I have had a lot of people commenting on them so they clearly are growing!!!

Really enjoying the change in my gym programme, I am off on holiday for Afew weeks and have developed a set training programme to use for a longer period which should assist me in pin pointing what is working for me and what isn't, as oppose to changing the exercises i do on a weekly basis.

I am hoping to continue reversing until mid July and then assess how I look and when to start cutting in.  I will then monitor my progress week to week.  The view is to compete in September, whether this is NABBA English Championship or the remaining UKBFF BodyFitness qualifiers.

Dark Chocolate Protein Donuts

Dark Chocolate Protein Donuts

We all get hit with them at some point... But there is lots of clean treating out there. If I do clean treat it does tend to be round "female" week for me other than that I don't really get much of a sugar craving! I always find if I can get past 4 days of nothing sweet my body stops craving and thinking about it !

I made these amazing Dark Chocolate Protein Donuts yesterday! 😱🍩

So simple and easy to make!

1. Pre heat oven to 170
2. Cool 230g Sweet Potato
2. In a blender put a cup of liquid egg whites, 1/2 cup of Vanilla Protein powder, 1/4 cup of Pea Protein, cooked sweet potato & 2 tablespoons of coconut flour.
3. Spoon into a donut tray and bake for 15-20 minutes.
4. Once cooked leave to cool for 10 minutes whilst this is happening melt 50g of dark chocolate... I used Salisbury's 70% Smooth Dark Chocolate.
5. Drizzle all donuts in the chocolate and set in the fridge for 20-30 minutes

Macros based on the products I used... (I always recommend using my fitness pal recipe builder to bar code scan the products you choose to use to get accurate macros)

Based on 10 donuts I got they were per donut

99 Calories, 10.3g Protein, 7.2g Carbs, 2.7g Carbs and 2.2g of Fibre!

I am going to start posting some of my recipes on the blog, if you click on the side roll menu bar will be a page full of easy recipes that I have made which taste amazing!

Surround yourself with like minded people....

Surround yourself with like minded people.... I always do this! and in doing so I rarely experience any negativity or 2 faced people.  There is nothing I hate more than negativity, its draining and exhausting.  I am sure you can all relate to someone you know, who you avoid because they are completely negative and drain all the life out of you!

I love things to do with psychology, alternative therapies and horoscopes! Again going back to like minded people, there is nothing I enjoy more than speaking about the above topics with my friend Laurie who is so in tune with these areas in life and her body!  She is the most positive person when it comes to things that are unachievable!  She always knows a way to overcome it or take another approach to dealing with the issue!

I met Laurie almost 5 years ago, we did not have any of the same friends in common and had never met one another before.  We worked together for a week (I had started at the company she worked at) and she spoke to me at the end of the week on a works night out.  Within minutes into the conversation she asked me a few upfront questions, asking if I was married and if I had kids.  I replied yes and no with no further detail.  She then said along the lines, its just I sense some heartache there with having a family.  After that I was hooked.. with very limited information she could read me like a book.  I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and I think I was destined to meet Laurie at that time in my life.  I was really down and depressed from all the failed treatment, and she introduced me to some alternative therapies such as Angel Healing, Reiki, Acupuncture that really helped my mind and to get me back on track.

Bad Experiences always effect your mind-set, but overcoming this is really hard.  For me, my IVF experience changed how I view things in life.  Previously I would get angry over the smallest trivial thing, everything was blown up to be a drama.  Also if I had an opinion on something I would argue it out trying to force my opinion on others, be narrow minded and in the mind-set that what I think is right and nobody else's opinion or view mattered.

When I addressed my problems and realised change was needed these therapies assisted with changing my mind-set and most importantly becoming a better person! I no longer get wound up over small things, I always look for the positive in everything.  If someone gives me an opinion on a person or product, I take it on board but I still make my own judgement, but I try to see it from there point of view as well, I also find I sit on the fence a lot more than I use to.  I also give everyone a chance, regardless of someone's past or how they have treated someone else.

At work this week there was mandatory training on people behaviour and changing culture, areas that I am completely intrigued about.  I loved the people behaviour course and changing mind-set.  Although I was already aware that change to mind-set takes 21 days of regular repeat, it was interesting to see that her take on a balanced person was someone who had a pendulum effect, they would swing between positive neutral and negative.. and I think that pretty much sums up my mind-set.

With the changing culture course the main message throughout the course was to reward, discuss, mention successes which encourages positivity, don't focus on the negative.  We are now encouraged at work to fill out a card where we notice an achievement or good piece of work or action that someone has taken, the view is when someone received recognition it makes them perform better - and I truly believe that.  A compliment is the greatest thing you can give anyone.

My friend Katrina has lost a lot of weight over the past 2 years, she looks amazing! and I have told her this time and time again, constantly telling her how good she looks, I have also given her some of my clothes I purchased but never worn as goals to get into along the way and guess what .. the targets helped her smash her goals! I have known Katrina since I was 17 years old and the past 2 years I have noticed a huge change in her positivity, how she approaches life and most of all her confidence!  Although I am always telling her I don't agree that she chose to use weight watchers to reach her goal... I am fully supportive of the positive of this negative which is that she achieved her goals, persevered and looks amazing!

Equipment & Bench Hogging

It's very rare I have a gym rant but yesterday I was buzzing to do my new pull strength workout only to be faced with my biggest pet peave - equipment hoggers!!!

I don't have anything against people who peruse Facebook or the likes in between sets... (I Instagram or iPod flick) but sitting on a piece of  equipment during peak times and refusing to share seriously hacks me off!!

I have started getting more confident and asking if I can jump in between there sets due to my programmes consisting of a lot of super / tri sets at the moment.

However this past few weeks I have noticed an increase of guys who train upper body every day having long rest periods and when I have asked to use the bench are rude and won't share!

If anyone asks me how many sets because I am using equipment they need  the first thing I do is offer then to jump in and out of my sets!

There is nothing more irritating than having your super / tri sets and gym programme interrupted by selfish equipment hoggers!

On a plus point if I was able to do my super and tri sets yesterday my workout would have been amazing! Unfortunatly I had to change everything to straight sets due to inconsiderate people!!

Box Squats

It's a Saturday Night and for most people that would involve watching Britains got talent... Not for me.... This was Andy's last day in the UK for 6 weeks so we decided to do a full body PB smashing circuit in order for him to spot me.

Legs were first... 8 rep range starting at 60 and making increments of 40kilos... When I got to my PB of 120kg I was going to give up... But the amazing thing about Andy is he constantly pushes you!!! Before I knew it he was putting the belt on me and 180kilos was stacked on.

I managed 4 reps and would have managed 5 but my toes lifted and I lost my balance!! Super proud I managed 180kg! Hopefully in 6 weeks time I can hit the 200kg mark!! But in the meantime it's back to good quality reps!

Oh and if you want to see the video http://youtu.be/aXqZcAe4lL8

I'm Social....

Come find me on Instagram!!!

Laineystrath

Feeling more me....

Since adding carbs into my diet, and the morning cardio being cut I have noticed a huge difference in myself.  I don't feel as drained or sleep deprived, and the black bags under my eyes are actually disappearing.

I have been abit of a scale watcher this week 🙈.  Seeing the number on the scales rise slowly has worried me, but when I look in the mirror I am still happy with what I see!

My performance in the gym has went from strength to strength and the new training programme is making me enjoy training so much more at the moment!

Yesterday was Leg day, and it was disgusting! I trained with Andy and Rob at the Warehouse.

Lots of super sets and high reps.  Although no PBS regarding weight were hit, I did manage 5 sets of 10 reps Box Squats starting at 60 working all the way up to 100.  I know I could have done over a 100 but I never had my hoody on and I find the bar doesn't seem to sit as comfortably with heavy loads if I don't have either the sponge or a hoody on.

I also foolishly asked for a hard abs workout as well... Usually it's 2 days for me before DOMS kick in, however with abs last night they kicked in the next day!!!!

Best workout I have had in at least a month! I also think I do so much better training with others with weights.

Baking Obsession

If I do go over my macros, it tends to be in the evening because I don't have anything to do and I "graze" the cupboards!

So with this in mind I always like to keep busy! And this week I have been trying out some new recipe.... I made a box of treats for home which I have frozen, a box for some work mates to prove clean treats taste just as good as bad ones!!! And also a box for Andy!

Tonight I made.... Vanilla Protein and Almond Cheesecake, Peanut Butter Protein Cookies, Protein Donuts and Protein Gingerbread Cupcakes!

I follow Protein Pow recipes to an extent and tweak the quantities or add additional ingredients as some of the ingredients in her book are hard to get hold of!  All recipes available on my recipe page shortly!

Reverse Dieting Begins!!!

It's Carb Day!!!! to say I was totally buzzing to start my new plan and introduce more carbs into my diet is an understatement!!! Although I am still on low carbs it is still a lot more than what I am use to!!!!

I have decided to get back into being more experimental with my cooking and feeling more fulfilled food wise!!!  Here was tonight's post workout meal! 1/2 Piedmontese Fork in Hell Burger from www.thefoodguru.co.uk #aberdeenbutcher, 50g Fage 0% Fat Free Greek yoghurt, 50g Jasmine Rice and a handful of Spinach.

What better way to start a new training plan than having your favourite training day #legday not only was it leg day but every single one of my favourite leg day excersizes was combined into 1 workout.

Bike Warm Up
Box Squats
Lunges
Leg Extensions
Glute Ham Raises
